U.S. Army Special Forces - Humanitarian Demining

Training Tools

The below training aids are given to the Special Forces A-Teams after their training is complete and also to units receiving countermine training.  By providing training and training products to the Special Forces A-Teams prior to deployment, the center has established itself as a one-stop shop for demining operations.  To maintain the highest quality of training, the center is constantly partnering with organizations from around the world to stay current on the latest developments in both the countermine and demining communities.

                    HDO TOOLBOX
  HDO Toolbox
To support demining operations, the center developed the above proto-type box which contains examples of various hand-tools necessary to support a demining operation.  One completed box is provided to each team after training.

                      TRAINING MINES
    Training Mines
The center has a contract to produce inert plastic and rubber mines that look and feel very realistic.  The teams use the mines to support their demining training.  Over 100 different types of mines are being produced.

    PLASTIC MINE RECOGNITION BOARDS

Mine awareness boards are produced for each country receiving humanitarian assistance from the US.  The boards contain a two dimensional representation of several mines in use in that country.  The Special Forces A-Teams use the boards to support local mine awareness training and demining training.   To date, the HDTC has provided mine awareness board sets for approximately 10 different countries.

      GTA BOSNIAN MINE CARDS

The center has developed mine information cards for Bosnia, Korea, and Latin America.  Each card has a picture of a mine and its technical data.  The Bosnia cards are available at the installation's Training Support Center (TSC).
