Role

To conduct offensive and recovery operations beyond the range and capability of other Australian Defence Force units.

Tasks

Special Operations tasks are characterised by detailed planning, rehearsals and sound intelligence.   They may be conducted independently or with the assistance of conventional forces and will almost invariably be a joint operation. The types of tasks which may be allocated to the 1st Commando Regiment are:

Offensive Operations.
 
 
Recovery Operations.
 
 
 
 
Support Operations.
 
Peace Support.
Regional Training and Assistance.
Humanitarian Assistance.
