1 Commando Regiment

 

Training

Commitment. Soldiers are required to parade:
Every Tuesday night (7pm to 10pm).
One weekend per month.
Two nine day periods of continuous training per year.
Skills. The Individual Training Cycle provides  the soldier with the skills necessary to become an effective member of the Unit is as follows:

Commando Basic Training Course.
Duration -   20 Days.
Course Content -  The course focuses on the enhancement of individual skills and teaching commando team and section tactics in close country and an urban environment.
 

Special Forces Basic Parachute Course.
Duration -   14 Days.
Course Content -  The course qualifies soldiers for static line parachuting for land and sea descents.
 
 
 
 
 
 

Commando Amphibious Operators Course.
Duration -   14 Days.
Course Content -  The course is designed to teach the soldier how to operate the Zodiac in a tactical environment.

 
 

Commando Basic Roping Course.
Duration -   7 Days.
Course Content -  The course is designed to teach the soldier basic roping and rappelling skills.
 
 
 
 
 

Specialist skills.
Duration -   14 Days.
Course Content -  The soldier must complete either a Combat First Aid course, Regimental Signaller course or a demolition course.

It should be noted that the soldier will not complete all the courses immediately on posting to the Unit.

Advanced Training.

Once the soldier has completed the basic training cycle, there are a number of advanced skills that can be undertaken.   Some of these skills include:
Mountain Warfare.
Combat Survival.
Unarmed Combat.
Tactical Reconnaissance.
Snipeing.
Advanced Parachuting.
Heavy Weapons.
