U-Group

The U-Group of the Public Security Force has provided counterterrorist duties for the Bahranian government since the early 1980's. It is interesting to note that many of the non-commissioned personnel are contracted from Pakistan's Special Service Group (SSG). U-Group is based on Muharraq Island and is under the operational control of Bahrain's Security and Intelligence Service (BSIS).

Special Forces

Made up of approximately 350 personnel, the Bahrani Special Forces are not a true SOF-capable unit.  Training deficiencies hinder the development of this group into a viable special ops apparatus (despite the fact that it has trained with Britain's 22 SAS and U.S. Special Forces on numerous occasions).  BSF is organized as follows:

Headquarters Company
Support Company
Ranger Companies (2)
Special Forces Company
Counterterrorist Company
