The Airborne Mechanized Battalion continues
the traditions of the First Czechoslovak
Airborne Battalion at the birth of which
were today´s veterans of WWII. Since November
1st, 1991, the soldiers of the Battalion
have been carrying historical name of the
"71th Battalion of Czechoslovak Paratroopers".
They are bearers of great traditions of
this Battalion. The Battalion was established
on April 1st, 1994 by completing the 71st
Battalion of Rapid Deployment. |

The Airborne Mechanized Battalion is a universally
prepared airborne formation capable of being
engaged in any part of our republic within
a short time. It can wage combat activity
of tactical importance. It is able of being
engaged independently and in cooperation
with other formations of our Army. It posseses
high degree of skill, high mobility, it
can be transported by air and landed by
parachutes. It is able to operate in the
depth of enemy formation. However, with
regard to its character it has lower firing
capacity and decreased resistance against
the attacks of the enemy armoured units.
