Mother country is the ground that bequeathed our ancestors. Mother country is the history written in a shining way by our heroes. Mother country is the name of the Brigade of Special Forces.
Brigade of the parachutists of the Ecuadorian Terrestrial Force.
The skill and faith of these men are the responsibility to lead its forces to the victory, each chest is valuable, each soul is an altar, and the fire of its volcanoes is the blood that shouts in its veins God, Mother country and Liberty.
Today the Brigade of Special Forces account with the GFE-25 where they are prepared with untiring discipline, to surpass the challenges that everyday must face the parachutist soldier in order to dominate the body, the technique and the mind.

The GFE-26 is known as hard nature and brave soldiers, whose honor and glory have written the most excellent pages in National History.
The GFE-27, soldiers in the same cradle of the majestic and eternal Cotopaxi, they separates to begin a new day and that firmly transforms into the daily challenge of work without rest and discipline; vanguard of the service and tradition.
The GEK-9, where the access is limited just to the men with great and noble ideals who are prepared to die. In their heart have marked the true meaning of patriotism and civic willing. For those who have the idea of looking for better days for a sovereign town. In them exist the challenge to be put under the rigor of discipline, the inclemency of time, the swing of the nature, and that has the enemy, the danger and the death.

Important connotation must render cultured to the Mother country and its heroes. Here they are the soldiers who never thought about the danger, but they were prepared to defend its Army and to its town, until the last encourage of its life. For that reason they do not matter to die because they knew that it was better to die with honor than to waver with dishonor.

Today, more than ever the Brigade of Special Forces No.9 " Mother country " thanks to the capacity, honor and to the honesty of its commanders, Civil Officials, Volunteers, Conscripts and Employees is praised as crowns filled with life and glory, to guide the military thought in the only via in which we can give confidence to all our compatriots, with a rich legacy of use and knowledge for the future generations

The Brigade Patria maintains a high level of humanitarian activity with our brothers, narrowing loops of friendship and cooperation with the inhabitants of the indigenous communities of Cotopaxi, Quevedo and Sto. Domingo, by the ample plan of activities and that is reflected in several social infrastructure, field, ecological, medical aid, odontological, popular campaigns of vaccination, pharmacies, delivery of scholastic classrooms, didactic material, irrigation channels, transport of material, artisan qualification works, in benefit of the communities in which their conditions of life are not ideal.

PARACHUTING IN ECUADOR

On October 29, 1956, 35 Ecuadorian soldiers, gave their first jump in parachute from an airplane C-47 of the Ecuadorian Air Force, in the environs of Salinas, commanded by the Captain Alejandro Romo Escobar, whom mature the idea to found this specialization on the Ecuadorian Armed Forces.

Because of this reason Captain Romo said that to try to solve the complex future problem that entails the present and future War, ignoring the importance that parachutists within the science and the art of war have, it will constitute a very serious error that could take to an Army to the defeat and what is worst a town to the loss of its freedom. The Brigade of Special Forces, has remained loyal to these principles and aspirations through the time, representing the synthesis of the values in which we are deeply rooted and brings in a same unyielding foundation to the soldier and the civilian; in order to jointly fight by its Mother country and its greatness.

MILITARY OBJECTIVE

It is the formation, preparation, automation and training of soldiers of the Regular Forces in special courses like the followings: Commandos, Parachutists, Heads of Jump, Teachers of Jump, Guides of Jump, Basic Free Jump, Operational Free Jump, Mountain War, Snipers and Tamden.

SPECIALTIES

The School of Special Forces has many specialties, such as the followings:

PARACHUTING. -

It enables the soldier to be skilful in throwing himself from an airship during the flight with a parachute and thus he could arrive to the grown in optimal conditions to conquer their objective. The parachutist soldier flies in search of his dreams, fortifies his spirit and compensates his sacrifice, when finally he wears his red beret with its golden wing, like an award and iron will to the hard training.

COMMANDOS. -
The new objective of the soldier with RED BERET, it is there where they become hard and strong men with hard nature, ready to confront any type of misfortune and to overcome it. Their training is very rigorous in the air, sea and earth; what it allows them to win and to develop an own discipline that dominates the fear and to be prepared to fulfill Special missions in own territory and after the enemy lines.

JUMP HEAD. -
Parachutists psychologically enabled and trained. They are experts in the conduction of operations with paratroops, before, during and after the operations as much in the day as at night.

OPERATIONAL FREE JUMP. -
Parachutists enabled and equipped with special equipment and they can jump from 45,000 feet of height, driving their parachute that allows them to move through insurmountable obstacles and to infiltrate in hostile territory.

FROGMEN -
Experts in diving techniques and survival under the water, they are enabled to fulfill any amphibious mission in rivers, lakes and seas.

MOUNTAIN WAR. -
Soldiers trained in andinism and mountain techniques. They are enabled to climb elevations and to fulfill missions of exploration, search and rescue in any type of geography.

GUIDE OF DOGS. -
Specialists in guiding, feeding and training dogs for war. With them they fulfill missions of search, tracking and rescue. They are characterized to detect mines, traps and explosives, standing out as sentries and can be used to attack and to destroy the enemy, can be the messenger in adverse conditions.
