Reader comments: One thing I do remember is that
they (the Marine Commandos) get A LOT of training
from the SEALs (and you can imagine what the IDF thought
about it), and accordingly their favorite weapon of
choice is the HK MP5N (N=navy). As far as know they
are consider one of the top Arab teams in the area.
Not S’13 or SEALs level but better then most low standard
Arab teams.
Some General
Information on the Military Draft in Lebanon:
If
you were born after 1973, and you are 18 years of
age or more, you are wanted for military service.
A.
If you are currently enrolled in education, you may
postpone your military service on a yearly basis according
to the procedure below:
Required
Documents for Students Postponing Military Draft (Students
only):

Letter of full-time enrollment in school or college
- Current class enrollment in college or university
- Specification of current major
- Expected date of graduation
- Original copy must be signed and sealed from school
administration
- Copy of any Lebanese I.D.
- One passport size photo
- Current address and phone number
- Self-addressed stamped envelope

B. If you are an only son or a father at the time
the military calls on you for service, you are exempted
permanently BUT you must still carry proof of exemption
by collecting proof of marriage and fatherhood and/or
recent proof of being an only son.
If you were born in the US or your child was
born in the US, simply send your documents to the
nearest consulate or embassy for notarization. These
notarized documents must be presented to the military
upon arrival in Lebanon. If you or your child were
born in Lebanon, you papers must be notarized in Lebanon.
C. If you have been living outside Lebanon for
more than 10 years, your military service is postponed
on a yearly basis until the age of 29.
Required Documents for Postponing Military Draft:

Proof of education and/or employment during the
last 10 years
- A signed letter in which you list all the places
in which you studied and worked
- The above-mentioned letter must be legalized by
a notary public and the secretary of state of the
state in which you reside
- The notarized letter must be stamped by your nearest
consulate or embassy.
- Present these papers to the military upon arrival
in Lebanon in order to obtain a military exemption
card from the military Headquarters in Baabda.
