The education company (coy), "Garnisonskompaniet"

This company is responsible of educating 150 jägers for the border guard company every 6 months. The education starst in January and July each year. All soldiers except officers and NCO's are conscripts, and to serve here is NOT voluntary. The company start off with more than 200 soldiers each time, and transfer those that cannot hack it to the support units. The 6 month education program is considered to be demanding, both mentally and physically, due to the short time the company has to play with. The soldiers have 8 weeks of basic training, after which personnel is transferred to the support units. After the 8 weeks are completed, the jäger education starts, and in the next 4 months the soldiers train in recon and surveillance in artic conditions. The company is not motorized, and rely on movement by foot and helicopter. Since the main mission in a war scenario is recon behind enemy lines, the jägers are trained in long duration missions, operating in 8 man squads. The arctic conditions make missions difficult, and each soldier also train survival in both summer and winter conditions, mostly as a part of the squad.

The soldiers are armed with HK G3 rifles, and use mainly VHF, and some HF radios.

All the jägers also get a basic explosives training, since some of the wartime task is destruction of communications, bridges and roads.

When the education is finished, the personnel are transferred to the borderguard coy, and the current borderguards are transferred to the mobilization reserves.
