PREREQUISITES FOR
QUALIFICATION AS A SPECIAL
FORCES OPERATOR

Special Forces candidates are volunteers who hail from all walks of life, regardless of race, creed, colour or political views.  It is however a prerequisite that the individual who applies, must be a South African citizen and have completed at least one year of military (or comparable) training i.e. Police Services.

TRAINING

In order to qualify as a fully fledged operator, a candidate has to pass through five stages of selection and training, i.e. a pre-selection, consisting of various psychological and physical tests, a parachute selection course, a grueling Special Forces selection, and finally a training cycle, which includes the following:

Special Forces orientation;
basic medical;
basic demolitions;
obstacle crossing;
battle preparation;
air co-operation;
water orientation;
bushcraft; tracking; survival;
urban and rural tactics.
