Commando Squadron

The 100-strong Commando Squadron is the primary CT unit for the Emirate.  It is based on the outskirts of the city of Dubai and has received training from the British SAS.   A primary responsibility is the resolution of hijacking situations at Dubai International Airport, although the existence of a combat diving section implies at least some capability in maritime operations.  They are known to have a 50-man reinforcing element (SWAT-type) within the Dubai Police which has received training not only from the British, but the United States as well.

Emirate of Abu Dhabi

Police Special Unit

This unit has been heavily influenced by the British SAS, and is believed to be tasked with providing CT capabilities to all Emirates within the UAE who do not already have such a team in place.  This unit is 40 men strong and is based at the Abu Dhabi Airport.
