Nung Rescue Project

Friends of the Central Highlands - The South Vietnamese were absorbed by the North with hardly a ripple visible to the rest of the world.  Many were imprisoned due to their affiliations during the war, many left the country and relocated to the US and other democratic countries.   The Montagnard lot in life remained basically the same - they were considered barely second class citizens by the South Vietnamese, and fared not much better after the country was unified by the North.   While the current government in Vietnam has not consciously singled out the Montagnards, they have more or less ignored them. The Friends of the Central Highlands intends to make a difference in the life of the Montagnard race in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The pages following provide some factual data regarding Vietnam, Montagnards and The Friends of the Central Highlands.

Save the Montagnard People, Inc. (STMP)

Montagnard Foundation, Inc. - MFI's overriding mission is to preserve the lives and the culture of the indigenous, Montagnard (DEGA) people of Vietnam's Central Highlands. Its guiding strategy is to restore, safeguard, and monitor the innate and inalienable human rights of the Montagnards as described in the covenants and declarations of the United Nations. MFI pledges to accomplish its mission through peaceful, humanitarian, and non-military means in the spirit of international cooperation.

Save the Bru - From 1962-1973 hundreds of Bru tribesman worked for Special Forces along the Laotian border. Many of these men died or were wounded right alongside their American friends. These brave fighters, and their families, are trying to survive under the central government, which can do little to support them. The Bru are engaged in a battle of fighting off malnutrition, disease, and trying to cope with the ever encroaching Vietnamese population.
