SOC Advanced Courses
In
addition to BUD/S, the Naval Special Warfare
Center conducts at least 24 advanced
courses and has additional classes under development. Current
training includes, but is not limited to:
The two-week Special Operations
Technician Course (SOT) which provides corpsmen going
to NSW commands with advanced medical training to
diagnose and operate a Hyperbaric Chamber in the treatment
of dive-related disorders.
A two-week course covering
the use of the MK 16 UBA, the most complex diving
equipment in the Naval Special Warfare inventory.
The
SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) Operator Course is
10 weeks long and conducted three
times a year. It includes instruction on
all SDV systems and Standard Operating Procedures
and
is required before students are permitted to dive
and operate SDVs.
The SDV Electronic Maintenance
Course is eight weeks long and exposes electronic
technicians to all the SDV electronic systems, giving
them hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repair.
The
Diving Supervisor Course is two weeks long and
held four times a year.
It is designed for personnel in pay grades E-5 and
higher from Joint Special Operations Force commands. Students
learn to give diving supervisor briefs and inspections
on open circuit and closed circuit diving
equipment.
The one-week Diving Maintenance
Course emphasizes disassembly, reassembly, and maintenance
of open circuit and LAR V diving rigs.
The
Maritime Operations (MAROPS) is a three week
course help four times a year. Emphasis is
on long-range, over-the-horizon navigation of Combat
Rubber Raiding
Craft (CRRC) utilizing dead
reckoning, compass and Global Positioning Systems
(GPS).
The Static Line Jump Master
Course is two weeks long and designed to teach NSW
personnel to conduct static line parachute operations.
The SEAL Weapons System (SWS)
is two weeks in length and teaches advanced underwater
demolition techniques with emphasis on equipment and
obstacle loading techniques.
The
Special Warfare Combat Crewman (SWCC) Program
is a nine-week course which
teaches the specialized skills required to operate
and maintain the various special operations crafts
that support special operations forces. First
established in 1993, the program provides formalized
levels of training for sailors who drive the various
craft essential to the SEALs' highly sensitive
and
often hazardous operations. SWCC may be parachute
qualified and may have other special warfare skills
in addition to their combatant craft skills.
