16th Operations Support Squadron

The 16th Operations Support Squadron (16th OSS) does exactly as its name indicates: provides operational support to the largest operations group in the Air Force, the 16th Operations Group. Eleven flights are responsible for supporting the group commander and seven operational squadrons.

All aircraft movements on or above Hurlburt Field are controlled by the Airfield Operations Flight. The flight deploys personnel to real world contingencies and exercises, as do all the flights in the squadron. Current Operations Flight schedules all flying activities.

Weather Flight supports local and transient aircraft and deploys Special Operations Weather Teams to support deployed special operations forces. Weapons and Tactics Flight improves combat effectiveness of the 16th Operations Group aircrews by building knowledge and proficiency in combat tactics.

Intelligence Flight supports commanders, staff and flying squadrons with current political, military and threat assessments affecting their missions.

Plans Flight develops, maintains and executes deliberate and campaign plans.

The Joint Liaison Flight is manned by Army Special Forces, Navy SEAL, and Air Force personnel. The flight offers realistic and intense combat training for special operations forces.

Medical Flight provides medical care for 16 SOW personnel, both on station and deployed. Personnel are specially trained and equipped to medically support world-wide special operations missions.
