Over
the Horizon Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats

Another Coast Guard initiative deals
with the boats on High and Medium Endurance Cutters.
The Coast Guard is currently investigating what modifications
would be required to allow existing boat handling
equipment to handle more capable Rigid Hull Inflatable
Boats (RIBs). Currently, they are in the process of
procuring and testing two RIBs. The operational testing
and evaluation (OT&E) will be conducted onboard
a High Endurance Cutter and a Medium Endurance Cutter.

The RIB selected as the OT&E Over-the-Horizon
(OTH) RIB is Zodiac Hurricane’s 733 RIB matched with
a 300 HP Yanmar Diesel and Mercruiser stern drive.
Table 2 below provides additional information about
the boat and the equipment installed onboard.
